Hermetic hinged doors

Hermetic hinged doors for hospitals

Hermetic sealing where there is no room for a sliding door: for operating rooms, intensive care units and isolation rooms. Manual or automatic, with HOSPITAL60 profile and flush HPL panel.

Class BUNI EN 12207 in overpressure and underpressure, Istituto Giordano (single-leaf version)
FlushAbet panel flush with the profile, with no visible joints
InterlockPrevents several doors from opening at the same time
Every door documentedCertificate of correct installation and technical file

How much air really gets through: the laboratory data.

On the left the room, in overpressure (+) or underpressure (−); on the right the corridor. The PBMTE60 hinged door airflows are those measured by Istituto Giordano; the ordinary door is the class 1 limit of UNI EN 12207.

Real values: Istituto Giordano test report no. 445834 of 29/09/2026, values in overpressure and underpressure, single-leaf door 1185 × 2120 mm (2.512 m²), class B UNI EN 12207:2017. The ordinary door is the class 1 limit of UNI EN 12207. The gusts are a representation: their intensity follows the airflows.

How it is made

The same door tested by Istituto Giordano.

PROFILE

HOSPITAL60 · 60 × 52 mm

Perimeter aluminium frame with rounded edges and grooves for the seals. 60 mm sandwich-panel leaf: 50 × 50 mm inner frame, class 1 insulating core, 4 mm HPL laminate flush on both faces.

SEALING

Silicone seals on all 4 sides

Large-section seals in grey silicone, 40 Shore, non-toxic and FDA approved. At the bottom, the drop seal lowers in two stages, first on the hinge side and then on the handle side, with a 14 mm stroke.

HARDWARE

4 three-wing hinges and double handle

Hinges for rebated doors with independent adjustments, double antibacterial handle, closed adjustable strike plate. The door is completed by 2 locking pins at 12 V with no-touch release control.

Automatic version · FACE SW70S

FACE SW70S operator: closes even without power.

Every automatic sealed hinged door is driven by the FACE SW70S, a new-generation swing door operator. Its closing spring shuts the leaf even during a power failure, so the door stays closed on its seals.

  • FACE SW70S operator
  • 2 no-touch buttons
  • Function selector
  • Emergency battery

Rendering of the Hospital Division no-touch opening button with backlit icon

Hospital Division no-touch button

Opens with a wave, without touching anything.

The new touchless opening button carries the Hospital Division brand. Just move your hand close: the icon lights up and the door opens. No pressing, so fewer hand contacts with the door in operating theatres and wards.

  • Opens with a wave of the hand
  • Backlit confirmation icon
  • Smooth, flat surface, easy to sanitise
  • One button on each side of the door

Interlock system

Two or three doors, never open together.

In the access filters of operating theatres, clean areas and isolation rooms, sealed doors work in interlock: while one door is open, the others stay locked. This way the pressure difference between rooms is not lost and corridor air never flows straight into the room.

2-door interlockThe classic filter between corridor and room: you open the first door, step into the filter, the door closes and only then can the second one open.
3-door interlockFor filters with three accesses, for example corridor, room and prep room: only one door at a time can be opened; the other two stay locked until it closes.

Why it matters

  • It keeps the pressure. If two filter doors are open at the same time, corridor and room are directly connected: the pressure difference drops within seconds and the ventilation system has to restore it.
  • It protects the operating theatre. Corridor air, with dust and bacterial load, does not reach the surgical field or the clean area directly.
  • It contains risk in isolation rooms. In negative-pressure rooms for infectious diseases, contaminated air does not escape into the corridor.
  • It does not rely on staff attention. The door itself prevents simultaneous opening, even in a hurry or with full hands.
  • Less work for the HVAC system. With fewer air losses, the air handling system runs more steadily and uses less energy.

On request, on our sliding and hinged sealed doors. The animation is illustrative: green = door that can be opened, red = locked door.
